Frequently Asked Questions

How long do sessions typically take?

It depends on which package you get, however, I tend to shoot quickly so I can generally wrap up a shoot before the session time is up. That being said, I find that the best shoots are generally about 3 hours. It gives you time to get use to being in front of the camera and loosened up and it allows for no one to feel rushed. This timeframe does include travel time to get to each location. My standard portrait and couple sessions are generally an hour to an hour and a half per outfit.

Why do I have to pay a deposit?

The deposit is to lock in the date and time for your session. If you cancel at the last minute, I most likely could have booked someone else during that period. I do not hold a date or time until the deposit is paid, this means that the time slot that you want is up for grabs. Nothing is booked until the deposit is paid.

When do I pay the remainder? Can I pay it all upfront?

The remainder of your session and travel fee is due the day of your shoot as soon as the session is finished and before we both leave the location. No images will be delivered until the final payment is made. The way my booking system is set up is in two increments: deposit and the final payment.

What are location travel fees?

Depending exactly where you want your photographs taken travel fees will vary. I generally charge $1 per mile starting outside of a 30 mile radius from my home. ie. if the location is 35 miles from my home it is $1 for the 5 miles outside of the 30 mile radius and $ 1 for the 5 miles back to with in the 30 mile radius of my home. The total for this example would be a $10 travel fee. Hotel and or flight fees may be added if required.

What happens if it rains?

If the weather is bad/I am sick/act of god etc., your deposit can be put toward a rescheduled date. However, if you just don’t show up to the session, the deposit will not be refunded. If you book a portrait or couple session, this does not include elopements, engagements, weddings, or commercial work) and need to reschedule, your deposit will be put toward a rescheduled date as long as I am notified within 7 days of your session. However, if you cancel and do not want to reschedule, your deposit is not refunded.

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Bring a person to hype you up. Whoever can cheer you on, make you laugh, and whoever makes you feel comfortable.

How and when will I receive the files?

You will receive your edited photos within 2-3 weeks of your session. You will receive all the files through Pixiset, which is an easy and free email service. You can download them and then send them to any friends or family or post them online. The download links do expire after a few days so be sure to download your photos as soon as possible. Also make sure to save and back up your photos.

How long do you store our images?

I generally clean out my client files after 6 months and cannot guarantee that I will have your images backed up after that point. So be sure to download and backup your photos as soon as you can. I do not keep the raw files for more than 2 months.

Do I get to select the images?

No. My job is choosing the images that are the most flattering of you. Any images I do not deliver are either blurry, or out of focus, shots of you blinking or grainy.

Can I have the unedited versions or raw files?

No.

What if we don’t want the images used on your social media, website, or anywhere online?

Please make it clear in your initial contact email and let me know the reason. I solely market my services through the internet and I rely on sharing my work to draw in clients (which is how you found me). Therefore, I do have a fee if this is something you want to be waived. Please inquire.

Will you photoshop how I look?

For a general portrait and couple sessions, no. I do not retouch or alter my client’s appearance aside from removing a pimple here or there. However, I do have a fee if this is something that you want.

Can we pick what photos you use online or on your social media?

No. Any of the files I deliver to you could be shared online.
